Jacks Birth Day

I woke up Sunday morning with my back hurting. My lower back had been hurting off and on for awhile so I really didn't think much of it, except that I really didnt want to go sit at church for 3 hours with my back hurting :) When it was time for church i decided to stay home with Lily, I was set to be induced the next day and I didn't want Lily getting something nasty in nursery and bringing it home..and it was still uncomfortable to sit. So we stayed home and I picked up and did lots and lots of laundry and put it all away. I don't really remember what we did the rest of the day..around 6:30 I was getting really tired since I had hardly sat down all day and grumpy..so we were rushing getting dinner done so the girls could eat and go to bed by 7:30. Around 7 I started having light cramps and contractions..by 7:30 I decided to start timing them..they weren't super painful but they were pretty consistant. I googled to see when you should go to the hospital. ha! I've always been induced, and these werent' really that painful. I texted back and forth with my friend and she said to go in, but I really didn't want them to send me home and say it was nothing since it still wasn't really painful, just uncomfortable. Around 8:15 they started to get a little more frequent and started to hurt, not bad, but not just the uncomfortable ones anymore. So i made Joe call labor and delivery and tell them I was having contractions for an hour 3-5 min apart lasting 30 to 45 sec each. They said to come in and be evaluated. Great, what are we suppose to do with the sleeping kids?! Luckily there was a work holiday the next day so Joe thought to call and ask his buddys to come and sit and play video games or watch a movie while we went in to get checked out. As we were driving to the hospital the contractions were slowing down, so I was thinking, great, this is going to be embarrasing. They picked back up a little walking into the hospital, but they still weren't super bad. We got up to labor and delivery at about 9 and told them what we told them on the phone and they had me go in this room and hooked me up to hear the babys heart beat and one for contractions. They wanted to monitor me for 20 min to get a good reading on babys heart. The contractions picked up pretty good after sitting there for about 10 min and it was hard to sit still. He came back in after like 15 min and had to readjust the monitor and I had to sit there for another 20 min! Contractions had really picked up by now or it wouldnt have been too bad. They checked me at some point and I was at a 4. They didn't seem too concerned since I was at a 2 at my last appointment a week ago. I tried to tell them that I progress REALLY quickly after i'm at like a 5 (with an epidural though, wasn't sure how it would be with no drugs!), but they didn't seem to listen. At least the resident DR and midwife didn't. The nurse in charge was really great and listened. After the next not so fun 20 min of getting the heart beat, the midwife came back in and said she wanted me to try walking before admitting me. I said fine. When she left my nurse said it was fine to use the bathroom and walk around the room until my iv had finished. Just standing around the room for 15 min, I knew there was no way I could walk around the hospital. I had Joe go get him, and he agreed that I should just lay back down and he would work on admitting me and I kept telling him I wanted drugs :) When we discussed walking around I had told him that in my other deliveries once I got to a 4 or 5 I had trouble progressing until I got an epidural, but once I got that I was at a 10 super fast. When I have a contraction I tense up and hold in, I asked him if it was okay to not push, but to not hold it in and he said yes exactly, thats probably why I had trouble in the past. So I took his advice, maybe I shouldn't have. By the time he got back in the room I was telling him I really needed to push! and he was like no no no, and I just kept telling him I needed to. He said he was going to need to check me, and when he did I was at an 8! I needed to push SO bad! After that was kind of a blur. I got wheeled down to labor and delivery still not even admitted. I kept asking about the drugs but they just kept saying no :( hehe Once I was in my room, I finally talked to the lady that could give me drugs, I was so excited. and then the intern DR checked me and I was at a 10, I said, are you sure, i was just at an 8 before you brought me in here! So I had the other dr check and sure enough a 10. I asked for something in my IV or to let me push and they said just push. I remember thinking they were so dumb. I was laying on my side how was I suppose to push, where were the things for my legs! haha, I asked them and they said just hold your legs up! Anyway after that I pushed. I don't remember much after that. Joe said after the first push my water broke. I do remember that. If I had had drugs it would have been pretty funny. It didnt just break, it burst. All over the 5 people standing around me. On the next push he could see the top of the head. another push for his head. then they had me stop, not sure why, but then the next push he was out. (Joe said they had me stop so they could untangle the cord, cut it and clamp it off) They told me, the harder you push the fast he comes out. and with no drugs it wasnt the most comfortable, so I pushed hard :) I was telling Joe it didn't seem fair that when he cut his hand, Army doctors gave him percocets for the pain. I deliver a baby with no drugs and they give me motrin..just doesn't seem fair! hehe Recovery has been great. I think I have less pain then with either of the other deliverys that I had drugs for. Not that I would chose to do it that way again, but just saying :) Before Jack was born I was joking around saying Ellas delivery was about 12 hours, Lilys was about 6, so maybe his would be 3. He was pretty close at just 4 hours and only 2 at the hospital! We made up for the short time being there for delivery though. I had to stay two nights since he was born so late Sunday night. I hate being at the hospital, its impossible to sleep! We are happy to be home now, where we don't get woke up every hour to be checked. Jack is such a good baby. Super mellow, maybe its just the difference between boys and girls, because my girls cried a lot more :) And if your still reading and haven't just skipped to the pictures..here are some pictures of our cute Jack :)

Quick note about the hat...when he was first born they put on this pink, white and blue striped hat and he just kept crying and crying. The nurse said, he must not like me. I said its probably because you have him wearing a pink hat. So I got this blue one out of my bag and he stopped :)

Ella...new Lens

My birthday present came yesterday! I got a new zoom lens. I don't really know that much about lenses or what the numbers mean, but I got a 55-250 zoom lens..my other lens is a 18-55. What I wanted was an 18-250, but it was a little out of my price range so I decided I can live with changing it back and forth :) The new one will be great for when we go to events..I would have loved to have it for the bull riding we went to, or when we would go to disney on ice. So it will be awesome for those things..It also would have been really great these last few months when I didn't want to get down and close to take pictures of things..it has an awesome zoom..in these pictures I am standing pretty far away from Ella and I didn't have to squat down..because I never would have gotten up..hehe I am excited to use it on baby boy who should be here Monday if not before. I had an appointment today and I was dilated to a 2 so that is promising! Fingers crossed they have room for me on Monday if he doesn't come before then :)

Ella and Lily love stickers. It keeps them busy for hours to have a big sticker book. They were playing at the table and Ella ran to me super excited and said guess what?! Then she lifted her shirt and said, I got a tattoo!! Oh man....

Bull Riding

Awhile ago Joe got two free tickets to go watch some professional bull riders at the fair, it was pretty fun. A little slow, but fun to go to once :)

(Even better that it was inside with AC, I figured it was outside and it was over 100 degrees that day!)

I am trying to let Ella dress herself..sometimes its pretty funny :)

They wanted to wear cowgirl hats

I only had my little point and shoot camera at the time..my good camera battery charger was still lost :(

The girls loved watching the bull riding! They had mutton buston (something like that) for like an intermission. It was little kids riding on sheep..it looked super scary! Lily said she wanted to try :) She was so excited today when we walked into walmart and they had put in this ride on bull!

Here is a video of a guy that actually stayed on for the whole 8 seconds..most lasted less than 2!

And here is one where the dude gets thrown off

No more diapers!

After 4.5 years of changing diapers, I get a few weeks off before I have to change another one :)

Lily is potty trained! YAY!

Lily is a little older then Ella was when we (haha, I) potty trained her and it was SO much easier! She had it down after a few days and has only had a few accidents, most outside in the back yard so I didn't even have to clean them up! hehe

She gets really mad if I ask her to sit on the potty when she doesn't have to go :)
