Monday afternoon I went in for my 40 week appointment. I was really hoping she would tell me I was in labor and go check in to labor and delivery...but no luck. She did agree to induce me the following day. We stopped at the hospital to get all pre registered so we wouldn't have to do that in the morning. So we went home and started getting everything ready for the next morning. We were suppose to be there at 7:30am to get things started. My niece, Eme was staying the week with us in case I went into labor on my own she could stay with my kids. Later that evening Joe gets a call from my Dr saying she forgot she had an appointment the next day and she had to reschedule my induction for the following day at 6:30am (Wednesday instead of Tuesday) So that was a little disappointing but we spent Tuesday going to free breakfast and lunch at the school, a little DI shopping and the day went fast. I took two benadryl about 8 o'clock and went to bed. I tossed and turned all night and barely slept! My alarm finally went off and I noticed I had missed a call and had a message. It was labor and delivery telling me that they didn't have room and that I should call to find out when I can come in. I called them back and they said if no one called me by 8am to call them and they would give me an update.Joe was in the shower so I told him he may as well go back to bed. I tried to go back to sleep but couldn't. About 30 min later I got a call saying to be there by 8:30 and they had a room for me! We hurried and got ready and headed out. We got to the hospital around 8 and had to go fill out a few more papers for insurance. I was in my room shortly after that. My Dr told me they were just going to start me on pitocin to start contractions but when she came in she asked if she could break my water. That was one of the most uncomfortable things ever... She broke my water around 9:30 and then they started the pitocin at 10. Every 20 or so min the nurse (who was super awesome by the way, my favorite nurse i've ever had) would come in and bump up the pitocin. I forgot how horrible that stuff is. I'm not sure if it was just the pitocin, or that combined with having my water broke but it was awful. When I was in labor with my girls (on pitocin) my legs would shake uncontrollably and that made it really hard to relax and breath thru contractions. With Jack and not having any pitocin I had no problems with my legs. It still hurt a lot, but I was able to relax through the contractions. As soon as I felt the leg pain I was pretty sure I wanted the epidural. I went 11 hours with Ellas birth with the horrible leg pains before I finally gave in and got the epidural and she was born an hour later. I knew I needed the help to relax to move thing along. I decided to stick it out a little longer. Joe left to take the kids to free lunch around 10:50 and the nurse came in just after and bumped up the pitocin again. I tried listening to loud, angry music to push through the pain, it works when i'm working out. Not when i'm in labor haha. I called her back in around 11:20 and told her I thought I wanted the epidural. She asked if I wanted her to check me first in case I was really close. I said fine and I was only at a 6-7. She told me the epidural guy would be in a c-section from 12-1 and would be unavailable so if I wanted the epidural I needed to decide soon. I told her I would try a little longer. About 10 min later the pressure and pain in my legs was too much so I called her to have him come. That was the longest 15 min waiting for him to come. My epidural was in and mostly working by noon. It was great to just feel a little pressure and not all the pain! I could still feel and move my feet which was really weird to me. I remember with my girls not being able to feel at all. It was nice to be able to wiggle them though. Joe got back soon after that. I don't really remember what happened that next hour or so, but at one point I started feeling really weird and started to panic a little. I made Joe run into the hall to find my nurse to check me. She wasn't out there but the nurse that helped with the epidural came in and checked me. I was at a 8-9. I told her I was afraid the baby was just going to fall out. That is what it felt like. She said everything was fine and left. About 15 min later I felt the same panic feeling and called my nurse again. I was shaking everywhere and she said I was just in transition. She said we were just waiting on my Dr (this is the same Dr that delivered Lily and we had to wait for her then too!) Finally she showed up, she was in a bad mood because it was her lunch break lol! Sorry lady, I can't hold this baby in any longer! I was waiting to push and they couldn't get the bed to break down for delivery. It felt like forever but i'm sure it was only a few min. Finally they got everything set up and then we had to wait for a contraction. I could still feel pressure when I was having contractions so I knew when to push. I pushed through once contraction and his head was out. She was waiting for another, but she said just push now. So I pushed and the rest of him came out at 1:38pm. They put him on my stomach and he was so blue and not crying. His cord was wrapped around his neck twice. They quickly got it off (Joe got to cut the cord) and took him over to start sucking out his mouth and nose. He was fine after a few minutes. They cleaned him all up and I got to hold him for awhile. Then they took him..i'm not sure what tests they did. But while he was gone to the nursery I got to order my dinner. When Lily was born I remember they had the best turkey sandwiches so I ordered that. Then they transferred me to another bed (this is where not having an epidural was great, I could just get up and move to the other bed, not have to be moved) and wheeled through the labor and delivery area to my recovery room. I felt like I was in a parade haha, i'm just glad there were only a few people in the halls. Joe went home and got the kids and Eme to come see the baby. After a short, crazy visit he took them home and stayed till they went to bed. He brought me a sonic milkshake. They have a nursery at this hospital so they took the baby so I could get some sleep. But they come in so much in the night to check on you I didn't get any sleep. I asked one of the nurses when I could leave, and she said since we didn't have any problems she could see if we could leave after 24 hours. The next day Joe had to take Eme home so he took all the kids and drove her home to Spanish Fork. They stopped at Sheels on the way home and looked around. The hospital does a celebration dinner or lunch and we had a steak lunch. We had to eat it quickly because the Dr was coming in soon to release us. We left the hospital around 3. Shortest stay I've ever had. I'm a little sad I missed out on one more dinner :)
