Highway to Hale 5K

Today we ran our first 5K!
A few days ago my Sister-in-law told us about a race in Orem that she was going to run in. So I looked it up, and as soon as I saw the name of the race (and knowing we would probably get a tshirt with that on it) I was sold! HA! So I signed us up..we weren't really sure how we would do because we are only on week 5 (I had to take a few weeks off when my back was hurting) of our 9 week running program. We finished the race in 40 min, and only walked for about 3-5 min on a huge hill, poor Joe had to push the jogging stroller! I think we did really good for our first 5K! And Joe even won a prize (two free costume rentals) for his best costume!

I finished 41st out of 61 in Women, so not to shabby for a first race!
We are really excited about our race in November when we will actually be done with our 9 week program and be used to running for 30 min at a time.
Joe just after the race! I am so glad Joe agreed to run with me. I have a love/hate relationship with running. I love to do it, but i dont..its weird, but I love that Joe is willing to get out and run with me (and be a good sport and dress up!) because I wouldn't do it by myself! Love ya Joey!
This picture makes me laugh, I took it from my sister in laws blog, I thought the jester dude on the bike was someone trying to pass me and I knew I could take em, so I ran as fast as I could to the finish line!

We got a pumpkin as our special prize for finishing the race
that chick in the white dress, a bride, beat me for best costume

Joe won 1st in guys costume. I knew we had no chance of winning the race, so we dressed up so we had some chance of getting a medal!
(I got second..no medal for second...sad day)

Me and Lily before the race,
SMILE its 7am and you are about to run 3.444 miles dressed as Minnie Mouse!

Yesterday was my Birthday! We had a very full, fun day! I got my new running watch and was able to try it out today. Last night I signed up for two 5Ks, one is this Saturday! I'm so glad my watch came because now I know that I can run a 5K pretty easily and in like 40-45 min. I know thats not the best time, but we just started running like 5 weeks ago, and I was never athletic, so its good for me! My watch tells you the distance you've run, your speed (if you look at it while running), calories burned, how many steps you've taken and times how long you are working out. It also works as a normal watch too, its pretty snazzy! I also got newer couches, so we spent a lot of time cleaning and rearranging (something i've always loved to do (the rearranging part not cleaning!), but its hard now with babies always underfoot!) We ended the day with dinner at Teppanyaki grill and cake at home with family! It was a really great birthday!
These are the stats from our run tonight!
5255 steps
3.440 miles
460 calories burned
39 min 41 Sec
A few pictures from cake eating, we didn't take any pictures during the day, bad I know! Joe was in charge of pictures during the cake time, so here they are!

Ella picked out my cake!

Discovery Gateway Children's Museum

Today we went with my friend Villy and her kids +2 neighbor kids (so we had a total of 6 kids and two adults!) to the Discovery Gateway children's museum in Salt Lake. We had never been before and Ella and Lily loved it! First we went to lunch at the food court which was a little crazy! Then headed off and played for hours at the museum. We had to by home by 5 to pick up Villys oldest from school, so we left the museum a little early and stopped at Häagen-Dazs for some icecream..SO good! Then another walk back to the car which was a little crazy and a drive home with 6 sleeping kids!

Lily loved the ball room

Really, ALL the kids loved the ball room! It was pretty neat. Ella spent most of her time in the ball room at this little station. You put the ball in that tube and it blows air up, so it takes the ball through some tubes and ends up across the room in a bin of balls (like the thing at the bank drive ups)

The water table was also a huge hit with the kids. Lily came away soaked!
We stopped and watched part of the water show
Yesterday I found this black widow crawling across our porch..YUCK!
Joe took it out the the middle of the street and stepped on it

James, Joes brother, had his farewell talk at church today.
He did a great job and will be a great missionary!
Lots of family and friends came over after church to chat and eat.
